MONTAGE treatment
March 2, 2009The theme for my montage is played purley on sympathy for the main character. I want the audience to feel the stress and frustration of what the character is going through. The style that im going for is like Emimen’s 8 MILE and I would like the main character to be played by Sean Farris( NEVER BACK DOWN).

Setting the Scene
February 24, 2009Setting the scene was an exhibition located at A.C.M.I featuring original sketches, storyboards and models behind some of cinemas most well known movies. There where a few pieces of work that really impressed me, and one of them was Franz Schrodter versatility in charcoal. With design concepts such as Seven steps-1937, where he gave the drawings a refined, elegant feel, to the other extreme in his designs for the 1927 film Die Grone Pause, where it had a rough and scrappy feel to it. I also liked the digital image designs for Speed racer-2008, which had a lot of detail in it and a good use of lighting and colour which made the picture stand out. The cat in the hat designs, where the house and furniture are distorted and the use of quirky colours, made for a great concept design, which worked really well.
Overall the exhibition was a good wrap up to the day with a variety of concept designs, from the complex model houses in Baz Luhmanns Australia-2008 to the simple pencil sketches of a hut in Ned Kelly-2003, all the designs had played a part in the final outcome of there movies.

Movie Review-THE SPIRIT
February 22, 2009
The movie I am reviewing is The Spirit, directed by frank Miller. This movie is based on a hero named Denny Colt/the spirit, and his journey to unravel his past life, the mystery of how he had obtained immortality and finding his first love named Sand Saref, whilst fighting off the bad forces in Central City and destroying his arch nemesis the Octopus.
What I love about Frank Miller films is there visual style, and how his movies feel like I’m watching a comic book unfold. His use of black and white throughout this film is great, and the adding of bold colour (the red in Spirit’s tie and the shining white of his sneakers) gives it that Frank Miller trademark, and gives the movie that edge and uniqueness. The 1950’s backdrop along with the characters costumes and wardrobes, mixed with new technology, gives the movie its distinctive tone, dark and sombre with a flare of brightness.
The element of the story that captured me was the idea of immortality, and how it would be used to conquer the world. The characters history was explained really well, and Frank Miller nailed the bond and love story between the spirit and sand saref. The octopus was a traditional villain in the way he wanted to rule the world, and destroy things that stood in his way.Overall the Spirit was an entertaining movie, enjoyable to watch and a few concepts that made me think about.
